OUR MISSION

The Albany County Land Bank is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods by addressing property vacancies throughout Albany County. Established in 2014 by Albany County, the Land Bank acquires tax-foreclosed, vacant, and abandoned properties, facilitating their improvement and responsible redistribution to eliminate blight and support community development.

Through grant funding, the Land Bank supports property demolitions, acquisitions, stabilizations, lot improvements, and rehabilitation projects. Working closely with state and local governments, nonprofits, residents, community groups, and responsible developers, the Land Bank strives to return properties to productive use in alignment with municipal redevelopment plans.

Properties acquired by the Land Bank are sold through a structured application process, which includes a multi-layered review and approval by the Board of Directors. Buyers are required to submit a scope of work, budget, and rehabilitation timeline to ensure they understand the level of investment needed to restore these properties. This process increases the likelihood of successful redevelopment, benefiting both the buyers and the community.
