The land bank is building affordable housing!
Through historic investments in affordable housing from the federal, state, and local government, the Land Bank plans to build and rehab dozens of new affordable homes for first-time homebuyers with its partners including Habitat for Humanity, South End Partners, and more.
Over the next five years, the Land Bank and its partners are committed to building dozens of new homes for first-time homebuyers. Some of these projects are already under construction and some are expected to start soon.
The Land Bank is seeking first-time homebuyers who are interested in purchasing their first home through the Albany County Land Bank for our first-time homebuyer program (“the program”). The application and supplemental documents are required to qualify for the program and to enter the housing lottery for all future fully rehabbed and new construction affordable homes available by the Albany County Land Bank.
If you are interested in purchasing a Land Bank home now or in the future, please fill out the application below to qualify for the program. Anyone who is determined not to qualify for the program will have the option to correct their application after they take the necessary steps to become qualified. Land Bank staff will also assist in connecting interested applicants who are not yet qualified for the program to resources such as homeownership education, financial support and empowerment, and mortgage lenders for a mortgage pre-qualification letter. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Please note that this application is only for first-time homebuyers interested in the opportunity to purchase a newly rehabbed or new construction affordable home available from the Land Bank.
